A Good Day To Read A Book
I made “going back to school” cards for my grandbabies. The four cards above were for the twins going to kindergarten, their sister who is entering 2nd grade and for my grandson that is going into 5th grade. The card below is for my teenage granddaughter going into 8th grade. I used the Book Die Set for all the cards. This is such fun die and I can’t stop using it. :0)

I started with an A2 Cream Card Base . I cut out an Extreme Postage layer using the Brick Textures 6 x 6 Paper Pack. Adhere this to your card base using the EZ Grand Tape Dispenser and the Smooshy to smooth it out.

Choose what colors you want for your book pieces and cut them all out at once from the Book Die Set. I love to cut out all the pieces before I begin. There are so many really great embellishing elements that are included in this set. Again I say….STAY TUNED for more great ideas. Don’t put any of the pieces together until you stamp the images.

On the top layer of the front of the book die piece, stamp the image from the Book Worm Stamp Set. Also stamp the sentiment from the Book Nerd Stamp Set on the small spine cutout. Color worm image with Copic Markers (colors I used are below). Then use the Distress Oxide Inks and the Mini Blending Brushes (set of 4) and burnish the corners using the Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs stamp pads.
Copic Markers Used:
110 – Special Black
Y00, Y06, Y08, YG03, YG13, YG17, YG25
E11, E13, E15, E21, E31, E35, E37
R21, R24, R32, R37, R59
B000, B12, B23

Assemble your book using the Precision Glue Press and Deluxe Adhesive. Flatten it using the Smooshy. Add some white highlights to the heart on the mug using the 05 White Gel Pen & 08 White Gel Pen. Color in the glasses using the Black Archival Ink Fine TipPen.

Pop your book to the card base using Regular Black Foam Squares. The last thing you are going to do is add some Crystal Glaze to the heart on the mug and to the eyeglasses. This will make them shine and look glassy. I also added some personalization to each book using the Black Archival Ink Fine TipPen. A few other tools I used for this card were the Craft Die Metal Snippers to cut the die apart; the Jewel Picker is a must for dies like this so you can pick up the pieces easily; use the Tweezers to help pick up pieces that you’ve added glue to; and lastly use the Retractable pick to help cleanup the glue that may have seeped out. TOOLS ARE A MUST. See the list below.

Add your card to one of our A2 White or A2 Cream Envelopes and mail it off to your dear friend.
I get asked all the time “How do you store your Copics?” This is the unit I use to store my Copic Markers….
