How To Create a Pop Up Book Card with Deb Valder

Hidy Ho and Happy Easter Stampers,

Easter Bunny

Today’s card is one of my all-time favorites!  I’ve been wanting to showcase this for a long time and here it is.  So without any further ado, here we go…

Mother's-Love-Pop-up-popup-book-card-stampinup-stampin-up-stampladee-deb-valder-1Mother's-Love-Pop-up-popup-book-card-stampinup-stampin-up-stampladee-deb-valder-2

Isn’t that so pretty!

So how did I do it?  Don’t put this card aside because you think it’s hard, it’s NOT hard at all.  And it’s quite fast to make!  Watch the video and then we’ll talk.  If you are watching this video in your email, you’ll need to click on the picture to view it, that will bring you to  my blog post.

Didn’t I tell you it was so easy.  This is one of the cards I will be doing for my 2015 April Stamp of the Month Class.  If you purchase this class, you will get to make this card and more!

Here are the measurements and things you will need to know:

Base card is 6″ x 12″ and scored at 6″.

Outside layers:  First layer is 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″; the next layer is 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and the top layer is 5″ x 5″.

Inside layers:  the inside base layer is 5 1/2″ x 11 1/2″; the book ends are 5/8″ x 3 3/4″; the bottom book layers are 3″ x 3 3/4″ (you need two of them); the top book layers are 2 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ (you need two of them).

with the 5 1/2″ side on top, place your cardstock at 3/4″; bring down your cutter to the 1 3/4″ mark and cut down until you get to the 9 3/4″ mark.  As long as you have the numbers, take these and watch the video and it will all be clear! Now flip this and repeat the same for the other side (you now  have two cuts in your cardstock).

with the 12″ side on top, it’s time to score our piece – On the top and bottom piece (the 3/4″ pieces), score at 3 3/4″ and 7 3/4″; next score from the very top to the very bottom at 5 3/4″

keep your cardstock in the same position and we are going to score the inside (or book) part now – score at 1 3/4″; 2 1/2″; (then skip over the 5 3/4″ because you’ve already done this one); 9″ and 9 3/4″.

Refer to the video to show you how to fold and adhere to the cardbase.

Just found your YouTube video because I was looking for a different fun card design to do and I loved this! I was able to get my Cricut to do the cut and score lines for me and now I have an awesome template to use whenever I need a card. Thank you so much for making this so easy to follow, yet have such a beautiful look in the end!
