More Winter Cardinal Fun
Hidy Ho Stampers,
December 23, 2021. Today Teaspoon of Fun is bringing you a really cute little cardinal card for the winter with a SUPER FUN technique on it! It’s the first day of the days getting longer (nights getting shorter) with lots of snow on the way. Let’s take a look at what I picked for you today…
Before I do that, do you still need that last minute gift for someone that loves to stamp. Don’t forget our Teaspoon of Fun Gift Cards. You can decide how much you want it for and it will be sent immediately to you or your recipient via email . Gift cards are the BEST! CLICK HERE to check out our Gift Card options.
This is NOT blue card stock, it was white and we used our Distress Oxide REINKER – I used Prize Ribbon to color it.
Iridescent White Glitter Paper
Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents
Distress Oxide REINKER – I used Prize Ribbon
Brilliance Moonlight White REINKER
We also carry the pad by itself Brilliance Moonlight Ink Pad
ORRRRR you can save some money and buy the combo Brilliance Moonlight Ink Pad COMBO. I’ve tested many white inkpads but this is by FAR the best one I’ve tested. It’s got my vote!
#1 Brush for the dots in the sky
#4 Brush and 1″ Large Brush for the background
Our Let It Snow Die was cut from two layers of Marshmallow Fluff Card Stock and one layer of our Iridescent White Glitter Paper. One of my favorite nesting dies is called Stitches of Love. There are 5 different dies that have 5 different designs on them. Very unique and lots of fun. I cut this die for the frame from our Pearl White Card Stock.
For the Ear Muffs and the snow on the branches I used our Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents. It’s a chunky glitter that doesn’t end up all over your room when you sneeze! The glue and the glitter are married together! SO easy!.
TECHNIQUE…..
- For this card I stamped and colored with Copic markers (all links below).
- THEN comes the BACKGROUND!!!! I love the way I did this and I really like the technique. I put a few drops of Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide REINKER into one of our Palettes and added a little water from one of our Silicone Dispensers. Mix it up and using our #4 Brush.
- I carefully colored around the bird and tree limb. Next I used our 1″ Large Brush to finish coloring the background. Let it dry – this is important – let it dry.
- Now take your #1 Brush and pick up some water on the brush. Tap the brush (like you would a cigarette) to add droplets of water onto the card. Don’t worry about getting the copic part wet, it doesn’t do anything to the alcohol markers (I wouldn’t try to get the bird wet but it won’t harm the bird)!
- I also added some dots using our White Gel Pen.
- I didn’t end there….I put some of our Brilliance Moonlight White REINKER into our Palette. Use the END of either the #1 Brush or the #4 Brush (not the brush end but the wooden handle end), dip it into the re-inker and dab it onto the background. The dot size will be determined by the amount of pressure you put on the brush when you dab it onto the background.
- You say WHY is she doing so many different types of dots!? I can answer that….it’s because each one gives the background a different look. The “water tap” gives a bocca look; the White Gel Pen is very tiny and very white and the Brilliance Moonlight White REINKER gives it is a raised white look. It’s all about depth and gorgeousness! :0)
Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents
Gloss Simply White Crystal Drops
This card is filled with dimension!!! I used the Fresh Snowfall Glitter Accents for his ear muffs. Then used the Fluffy Stuff for the snow on the branches. I topped it off with the Gloss Simply White Crystal Drops for the snowflakes.
This little guy was also colored with Copics.

Before I sign off today I wanted to show you two items I use and are in the links below (in the menu). These are not conventional items but can help with your organization and presentation.
The first is the way I am now storing my slimline stamps/dies/embossing folders. They are just refrigerator storage container units. There is a specific size I use. click here for the direct link.
Seriously these work for your slimline stamp/die storage!!!!
Then the next thing I wanted to show you is how I stand my cards up to display and to photograph. This one is not from the refrigerator, it’s used by florists. It’s called a frog, I’m not sure why, it doesn’t look a thing like a frog but that’s what they call it. Click here to check it out.
Remember, it doesn’t have to be hard, it doesn’t have to be complicated, just fun and thoughtful. All products can be found in our Teaspoon of Fun Shoppe.
Thank you so much for your time today. It means a lot to us. If we can ever help with any of your stamping needs, please reach out, we are here to help and teach, that’s what we love to do.
