Well I'm back from Fiji and boy do I have "jet lag"! Getting ready for my Continuing Education class tonight (hope I don't fall asleep on the way there)! It's always so much fun teaching people in the community how to stamp, I'd hate to miss any of it while I was snoozing – wonder if I'd wake up with stamps all over me!?!. :0)
Didn't I tell it was gorgeous. This is from our hotel overlooking the pool and the ocean!

Okay back to some fun stuff. We did a quilt card in one of my clubs this month. So much fun. This was taught to me many years ago by my good friend Jennifer Thomas! She is an amazing stamper and I've learned so much from her.
so how is it done?
First I used a set that is retiring (Spring Sampler #125512 clear mount or #125510 wood mount) and a new set called A Round Array (#129090 clear mount or #129087 wood mount).
Cardstock needed:
Turquoise one 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
whisper White 4 x 10 1/2
Lucky Limeade 3 1/2 x 3 1/2
Scrap piece 3 1/4 x 3 1/4
1/2" strips of Designer Series Paper (I used Sunshine and Sprinkles from the 2013 Spring Catalog)
The card:
Stamp the tulip from the the Spring Sampler set using our Stampin' Up! markers, then punch out with our 1" square punch – MAKE SURE YOU STAMP IT POSITIONED AS A DIAMOND. Punch a square from Tempting Turquoise using our 1/1/4" punch and pop these two together. Now adhere this piece to the CENTER of your 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" scrap (this should be positioned as a diamond onto the larger square).
*Start gluing your strip closest to the turquoise square. Continuing gluing so that you go all the way around the square. Trim off what hangs over the scrap piece.
Your project should look like this at this point:
*Then switch to another design of your 1/2" DSP (you can just flip the double sided paper over) and repeat the process above. Continue this until you have your entire 3 1/4 x 3 1/4" square complete. (Your 3 1/4 x 3 1/4" square will now be completely covered with Designer Series Paper).
Add this to your 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" Lucky Limeade square. Next attach that to your Whisper White card (folded in half) and attach that to the Tempting Turquoise base. Finish with your A Round Array piece that was stamped and punched with the 3/4" circle punch and backed with a Lucky Limeade 7/8" Scallop. Tie a ribbon and you have your little medallion.

I had so much fun this weekend. It was our monthly Stamping Team Get Together! We stamp, and eat and just have a ball. Here is one of the cards we made. Isn't it so beautiful!!!!
The Swallowtail was randomly stamped with Versa Mark then sprinkled with white embossing powder. Heat it. Then sponge over the Swallowtails with Crumb Cake. It was fun and fast!!!

Swallowtail with Deb Valder

Well today was warm (Basic Gray day) but it was warm.
I even think I see some green stuff coming up from the ground!!! YEAHHHHH
So today I was working on cards that pointed to spring. Here is my Swallowtail card. It's done with the "Whitewash" technique – video coming tomorrow.
this is done using the "Whitewash" technique.
I started with a Whisper White piece of cardstock and
embossed with VersaMark and Basic Black Embossing Powder.
After heating it, whitewash it with Whisper White Craft Ink
and an aqua pen. Next you will want to use your SU markers
and color in with a blender pen. (Check out my video tomorrow).
I fussy cut the butterfly out and popped him onto my card.

All Dressed Up with Deb Valder

So yesterday was St. Patrick's day. What would St. Patrick's Day be at the Valder household without our traditional Shamrock-Shaped Meatloaf and Green Mashed Potatoes for dinner (for normal people it's corn beef and cabbage - well that says a lot about us, we are NOT normal). So take a look.

Okay down to work! My card of the day today is all about the All Dressed up suite! Today I used only the dress form. I own a real dress form (I call her Lillie) and she goes with me to my "shows". I put all my handmade Jewelry on her to sell. So this dress form suite is near and dear to my heart.
Lillie – I found her at the neatest store in downtown Schenectady, NY.
The store is called Bliss and it's sooooo way cool! I love, love, love her stuff!
The dress form is collaged first. This is how you do it.
Take a piece of cardstock (whisper white or very vanilla) 5 1/2 x 2 3/4. Start ripping Designer Series Paper (I used the Tea For Two pack) and rip them into small pieces. For the next step you will need your Silicone mat because you need to get the snail adhesive close to the edges of the designer series paper. Just randomly rip and stick making sure the dress form fits on your decorated piece! It should look like the picture above.
Next you want to run it through your big shot. Notice I did not cut it square on the page. That is because I wanted certain colors to appear on my card. So you can twist and turn until you see what you like through the framelit. Cool huh?

On Saturday we had the best time with family and friends at Kayla's 1st birthday party!! Emily (her mom) is one of the most talented people I know with such great attention to detail. Everything was just perfect from the food to decorations, she did it up so cute!!
I made a card for her that was a take-off on the one Penny Smile did with the Whale.

Feel Goods stamp set with Deb Valder

Okay really!?!!!!!
we got another 6 inches of snow last night
(not a lot in our part of the country but we don't want any more!)
…yesterday we could see the ground!!!
Good Grief, is spring ever going to come?
So with that in mind, I got up and put together a card to make someone feel good! Everyone needs a little cheering up now and then! I got out a "feel good" kind of stamp set called "Feel Goods" made by Stampin' Up! It is a set of 5 stamps and they really do make you feel good when you read them. They can be found on age 21 of the Stampin' Up Hello Catalog #129681 (wood mount) or 129684 (clear mount).
So here it goes.
and this is what I did with it…
I used our new Bitty Butterfly Punch found on page 13 of the Stampin' Up! Hello Catalog. I punched:
13 real red butterflies
11 tangerine tango butterflies
9 daffodil delight butterflies
7 lucky limeade butterflies
and 5 bashful blue butterflies
and one fork bow
before you ask, here is how I started it.
I first did a row of butterflies wing to wing (see the right side);
then I did a second row of the same color every other one (see the left side).
The picture makes them look uneven but they really are.
I layered them on a piece of Bashful Blue Cardstock that was run through our new
Stampin' Up! Cloudy Day textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
I then added three Cupcake tops for clouds (Cupcake Builder Punch #121807)
The littlest butterfly is from Stampin' Up's Beautiful Wings Embosslit #118138 (the yellow one flying away)
and here is the inside of the card made with that beautiful "Feel Goods" stamp set.
Okay it's a little more colorful than I usually do but I like the way it came out. I used this same method on my Perpetual Tray Class this month. It came out just lovely!!

Soda Pop Tops with Deb Valder

Just another speedy card, speedy card today! It has the cutest embellishment on it. It's just like when you get all dressed up, you need a little jewelry to make it all come together. What do you think? Is it what the card needed?

So how do you make that adorable little embellishment? My friends Patsy Waggoner, Jan Burnett and Linda Heller have been inspiring me with what they've come up with. So this was my take on it.
This piece is layering a few of our Stampin' Up! embellishments. One of my new favorite embellishments is the Silver Soda Pop Tops that Stampin' Up! is selling now. I paired it up with the Designer Brads, Crystal Effects and wah lah!!! They are so much fun, these have been run through the big shot to flatten them (more card and mailing friendly when they are flat). Okay is anyone other than me ready for Spring? Don't get me wrong, I love winter (well not really but it's what I thought I should say at this point) but I do LOVE Spring. I'm excited because I will be traveling to Washington to see the Cherry Blossoms soon. I'm so excited.
